Guest speaker!

Lighting lessons!!
First time finally that i can really become some what like a gaffer. Because normally for productions, i dont really get the chance to handle lightings (due to height constraint). And it might be cause im accident prone too so i might just drop a few lights that people pull me away from doing this job. So when Rosali (if its his name...) came, he sort of understand the situation of the class and then proceed on to some resolution, which is spliting us, giving us some hands on work.

Im in Group 2 and we initially wanted to go level 6 and i went to check and there wasnt a suitable place for us to work on.. so in the end ,we found this classroom at level 4. The room got two big window so we can learn how to balance the exposure outside the window with the ones inside the room. At the start, we sort of experimented ourselves and then rosali came in to see us in mess. So he sort of took charge and tell us some ways to try it out. Using ceilings or whiteboard to bounce off lights, some lights as the back light to act as highlights and also to tighten the shot so as to cut off more light coming from the window as our equipment does not allow us to be able to balance the exposure outside the window. After the wide shot, he told us to change to the side CU of the subjects and using the window as the key light and maybe some lights at the front of the subjects to balance the lights.

But i think as an overall, we sort of made the lightings a little to safe as we sort of lit up the whole place instead of trying out different high contrasting lightings or some other ways of lighting. At least we did learn the main concept of lightings and get hands on work with it. A good start (: Really looking forward to more of it! YEAH!
